Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, we would rather you just asked us.
How much does Instacredit cost?
Your first 30 days are free. After that, it is $19.99 a month for everything: your score, your full report, alerts and identity monitoring. There are no tiers, add-ons or hidden fees.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. You can cancel from your account settings whenever you like. There is no cancellation fee and no phone call required. Cancel before your free 30 days are up and you will not be charged at all.
Does checking my score hurt my credit?
No. When you check your own credit through Instacredit it is recorded as a soft inquiry. Soft inquiries are visible only to you and have no effect on your credit score. Hard inquiries, the kind that can affect your score, happen when a lender checks your credit because you applied for something.
Where does my credit data come from?
Your score and report come from consumer reporting agencies, the same companies lenders use. We access them on your behalf, with your authorization, through our credit data provider.
Why is my score different from one I saw somewhere else?
There are many credit scoring models, and each bureau holds slightly different data about you. The score we show is an educational score. A lender may use a different model and arrive at a different number. Use your score to track your direction over time rather than as the exact figure a lender will see.
Will you remind me before my free trial ends?
Yes. We send an email before your 30 days are up so the first charge is never a surprise. If you would rather not continue, cancel from your settings and that is the end of it.
Can Instacredit fix errors on my report or repair my credit?
We are not a credit repair organization, and we cannot remove accurate information from your report. What we do is show you what is on your report so you can spot inaccuracies, and point you to the bureau's dispute process if you find one.
How is this different from a free credit score app?
Free apps show you a number, and most of them make their money recommending credit cards and loans. Instacredit is paid for by you, so its only job is to explain why your score moved and what to do next to reach your goal. No offers, no upsells, no ads.
Will Instacredit improve my credit score?
No one can promise a specific score, and we cannot change what is on your report. What we do is show you which factors are costing you the most, what would move them, and whether it is working. People who watch their credit tend to improve it: in TransUnion's data, subprime consumers who monitored their credit were nearly twice as likely to move up a tier within a year.
